نجد المسرح قد وظف الكثير من العلوم التي أصبح بأمس الحاجة لها، لكونه يرغب على الدوام بتحديث تقنياته، فقد استخدم الكهرباء في أوبرا باريس عام (1881) أي بعد عام من اكتشافها من قبل (توماس ألفا أدسن)، وبالمماثلة فقد استخدم المسرح العلوم الأخرى كعلم الاجتماع وعلم الوراثة وعلم الجمال وعلوم أخرى، كعلم الأشكال وعلم المنظور وعلم العمارة، فضلا عن استناده إلى جل الفلسفات المادية أو المثالية أو الحدسية أو الدينية، كان من بين هذه العلوم علم النفس، الذي توسعت دراساته بشكل غزير، بحيث تعددت مناهجه وتفرد كل منها باختصاص دقيق، كونه يحمل ضمن مضامينه العلمية رؤى متنوعة تصب في مجرى علم النفس العام.
