تم إعداد هذا الكتاب فى اربعة أبواب حيث شمل الباب الأول : مصادر الطاقة التقليدية من الفحم والبترول والغاز، وكذا استهلاكها على المستوى الدولى والإقليمي. الباب الثاني : خصص لصادرات الشرق الأوسط من مصادر الطاقة التقليدية حيث تمت الإشارة إلى ضعف بدائل الوقود الحفري فى تحقيق إنجازاته، وكذلك مخاطر النقل والاختناقات البحرية. والباب الثالث : تناول الوقود الحفري وتلوث البيئة. والباب الرابع : اشتمل على مصادر الطاقة غير التقليدية من المصادر الجديدة والمتجددة والطاقة النووية.
