الكتاب قصة مصورة للأطفال تبدأ عندما يستيقظ سيف خائفا على صوت رياح في ليلة صيفية، فيشاهد أذرعا تتراقص على الحائط ويتوهم أنها شبح، في الصباح يكتشف أنها مجرد ظلال سعف النخلة، فيضربها بالحجارة، لكن النخلة المعطاء ترد له الأذى بالحب، وتأخذه في رحلة عبر الزمن، يتعرف خلالها على فوائد النخيل، وأهميته، ودوره في الحياة الاجتماعية والاقتصادية. يعود سيف من رحلته محملا بالمعرفة وبثمار النخيل وبعض القيم الأخلاقية التي تعلمها من السعفة عن طريق الحكاية (المغامرة). صاغت الكاتبة الحكاية في 27 صفحة مزينة برسومات نفذتها المؤلفة لتناسب هذه الفئة العمرية، وفي القصة دعوة لحفظ التراث الإماراتي الأصيل الذي مثلت منه النخلة جانبا أساسيا.
