هذا الكتاب التذكاري من تأليف زهرة ظريف المجاهدة التي تصرح بأن عملها ليس عمل مؤرخ، ولا سيرة ذاتية، ولكن تكريما لأولئك الذين ضحوا بحياتهم من أجل الجزائر، فباستدعاء الذاكرة، أعطت زهرة ظريف الكلمة لتاريخها الشخصي ولتاريخ أسرتها، تاريخ كما عاشته وأحسته، في الألم وفي الأمل، فهي تعيد بناء أحداث ووقائع حرب التحرير كما عايشوها وذلك بإعطائها معنى وتناسقا، فالكتاب في الوقت نفسه استحضار لمسار حياة ولحظة انعكاسية تأملية لهذا المسار حسب برنار لهير وإنها لم تتعطل للحظة عن وصف الظروف الرهيبة بالتفصيل ومناخ الخوف والمطاردة والاضطهاد الذي عانى منه الشعب الجزائري.
