يقدم هذا الكتاب من خلال عرضه للبطاقات البريدية جزءا مهما من تراث الكويت الحضاري في صور متعددة تمثل مظاهر الحياة الاجتماعية والعمرانية وتطورها، حيث شملت المباني والأسواق القديمة، وسجلت مجموعة من الاحداث التاريخية، وألوانا كثيرة من التراث البري والبحري، يمكن الاجيال الحاضرة واللاحقة أن تطلع من خلالها على صورة واضحة المعالم لكويت الماضي. ويضم الكتاب نحو أربعمائة بطاقة بعضها ينشر لأول مرة وهي في مجملها نادرة يصعب الحصول عليها لقله المطبوع منها ولتوزيعها في مختلف أنحاء العالم. وقد غطت الصور التي قام بتصويرها محليون وعالميون عقود من القرن الماضي، ومن ثم أصبحت مصدرا مهما من مصادر التوثيق للتراث الكويتي.
