تشير أوراق الدكتور طه حسين ومراسلاته إلى ما كان يتمتع به الرجل الذي لقب بعميد الأدب العربي من مكانة وسط أبناء جيله في مصر والعالم العربي عموما، إضافة إلى آرائه الاجتماعية والسياسية، والجزء الأول سرد المشرفان في المقدمة الوظائف التي تولاها طه حسين منذ كان عميدا لكلية الآداب بجامعة القاهرة ثم انتقاله عام 1939 ليعمل مراقبا للثقافة بوزارة المعارف ثم كان أول مدير لجامعة الإسكندرية وانتهاء برئاسة مجمع اللغة العربية عام 1963. يغطي الجزء الثاني الفترة من 1941 إلى 1972، وتضم أوراقه نص محاضرة ألقاها طه حسين عام 1943 عندما دعته الطائفة الإسرائيلية في الاسكندرية الى احتفال أقيم في مدرستها، وكانت هذه الطائفة تتألف في معظمها من اليهود المصريين، الذين لم تتضح لهم أي صلة بالمشروع الصهيوني آنذاك.
