دأب المؤلف في كتابة هذا الكتاب عن الحقيقة التاريخية حيث دونها دون انحياز، حيث جمع بين دفتي مؤلفه هذا قصة كاملة من تاريخ فلسطين الغني، ومنذ أقدم العصور المعروفة، حيث ركز خلال ذلك على الجانب السياسي من تلك القصة الطويلة. وقد ضمن مادته التاريخية فصلا مختصرا في عصور ما قبل التاريخ، اعتبره توطئة لما يليه، وتعريفا بحضارة البلد منذ القدم. وقد توقف سرده التاريخي عند حرب 1948 حيث ختمه باتفاقات الهدنة التي انتهت إليها تلك الحرب، على اعتبار أن ما بعد ذلك يدخل في السياسة المفتوحة على احتمالات تحاشي الخوض فيها والتكهن بمآلها.
