إيمانا من إدارة الشئون الاجتماعية بوزارة العمل والشئون الاجتماعية بأهمية العادات الغذائية المتبعة لعملية الفطام فقد قامت بإجراء دراسة ميدانية حول العادات الغذائية لعملية الفطام في المجتمع البحريني، وسلطت الضوء من خلالها على عملية الفطام وطبيعتها والطرق المتبعة سوائ الفجائية أو التدريجية واتعكاسات هذه الطرق على الطفل الرضيع بصورة خاصة، كما حاولت الدراسة تشخيص أسباب فطام الطفل ونوع الغذاء الذي يتناوله الطفل عند الفطام.
