يتناول المؤلف الوضع الداخلي لمدينة الأندلس حيث يحكى قصة سقوط هذه المدينة وكيف أن الحكام والرعية في هذه القصة مشغولون بأنفسهم أكثر من شغلهم بأمور المدينة فبينما كان يقف الأسبان على أبواب المدينة يدقون طبول الحرب، إذ في الوقت ذاته كان الحاكم في صراع مع أحد رعيته يتصارعون من أجل امرأة، ويدبر لكل منهما المكايد والكمائن، يحكى لنا المؤلف ذلك في أسلوب حيادي وموضوعي حتى سقوط هذه المدينة.
