يعد الرقص فن، اهتم به عدد من الملوك والرؤساء قديما وحديثا، لما فيه من إبداع ولوحات فنية متحركة هزت معها قلوب الجماهير .. والرقص هو مرآة الفن، وخاصة لدى الجنس الناعم، فيعتبرونه مركز اهتمام الجمهور، إذ تحكى الصحافة أخبارهن وعلاقاتهن ومغامراتهن، لذا فهن دائما في قلب الحدث واهتمام معظم دوائر البحث والرصد والنقد، ويأتي في مقدمة هؤلاء الراقصات، (حكمت فهمي، سامية جمال ، نجوى فؤاد ، تحية كاريوكا، فيفي عبده. وغيرهن) بصفتهن يملكن من وسائل الإبداع ما لا تمتلكه الكثيرات غيرهن، وهو ما كان له دور في دخولهن في دهاليز عالم السياسة.
