تناول الكتاب الذي خرج على يد العلامة الراحلة الأستاذة الدكتورة ملكة علي التركي، مدخلا إلى الأدب الصوفي الفارسي مع دراسة للمنظومة الصوفية \"إلهي نامة\" للقطب الصوفي الشاعر فريد الدين العطار، قبل أن يقدم لنا الترجمة الكاملة للمنظومة التي تعد نموذجا أصيلا للأدب الصوفي الفارسي القصصي. تبدأ منظومة \"إلهي نامة\" بحديث يوجهه فريد الدين العطار إلى روح الإنسان الكامل، ويرى العطار أن هذه الروح هي نائبة دار الخلافة وصاحبة الأمر الرباني، والعالم كله منوط بها، وع ذلك يصعب إدراك كنهها : \"إنك لست في السماء ولا في الأرض فأين أنت ؟ إنك عند رب العالمين\". ويحدد العطار للروح الخليفة ستة أولاد على النحو التالي : \"واحد نفس مكانة الماديات، وواحد شيطان ينحو رأيه إلى الخرافات، وواحد عقل يناقش المعقولات، وواحد علم يبحث عن المعلومات، وواحد فقر يطلب الأشياء الوهمية، وواحد توحيد يبحث عن الذات الواحدة\".
