سعى البحث إلى اتباع منهج المقاربة بين تحليل الخطاب في الدراسات المعاصرة والتراث البلاغي العربي ممثلا في شروح التلخيص ولذلك فهو ينطلق من التعرف على تحليل الخطاب من خلال مفهوم الخطاب والتخصص الذي يتناوله، ثم يتوجه إلى بيان منهج النظر في التراث البلاغي العربي عموما، وكيف تم النظر إلى شروح التلخيص خصوصا، ويتطرق البحث كذلك إلى صياغة النموذج المعرفي الذي يمكن إيجاده في شروح التلخيص، إذ تمثل هذه المدونة المرحلة التي استقرت فيها البلاغة في صيغتها المعروفة، وعلى هذا ينطلق البحث في الفصول الأساسية بعد التعرف على النموذج البلاغي إلى بيان أهم المبادئ التي اتبعها الخطيب القزويني وشراح تلخيصه في تحليل الأقوال، وهي على التوالي مبدأ التخاطب، ومبدأ الإنجاز، ومبدأ الاستدلال.
