يتناول كتاب (يوم 11 يولية سنة 1882) والذي قام بتأليفه الأمير عمر طوسون في حوالي (140 صفحة) من القطع المتوسط، موضوع \"قصف مدينة الإسكندرية\" من قبل الاحتلال البريطاني حينما ضربت حصون مدينة الإسكندرية وتغلبت عليها، ويتناول هذا الكتاب الأسباب التي حملتها على هذا العدوان ؟ وماهي الحالة التي كانت عليها حصون مدينة الإسكندرية ؟ وهل كان في إمكانها مقاومة هذا الأسطول ؟ وهل قام الجيش المصري المرابط بواجبه الوطني في الذود عن البلاد والدفاع عنها ؟ وهل كان في مقدور ساستنا وأولي الرأي والأمر تغيير موقف إنجلترا العدائي ؟ ثم على من تقع بعد ذلك تبعة تخريب هذه الحصون وقتل هذه الأنفس العزيزة وتخريب البلاد ؟.
