يتناول كتاب \"نحو الجيش المحترف\"، والذي قام بتأليفه \"شارل دي غول\" في حوالي (142 صفحة) من القطع المتوسط، موضوع (السلطة والنظام في فرنسا)، والخطط العسكرية والحربية التي اتبعتها فرنسا، حيث ذكر المؤلف في كتابه : \"الصورة توحي للمتأمل الكشف عن خريطة فرنسا، حيث يبدو هيكل الوطن وفي وسطه قلعة حصينة قوامها سلسلة من الجبال المتماسكة الشديدة المراس، تكملها عن جانبيها إنجاد \"لانغدوك\" و\"ليموزين\" و\"بورغونيه\" وحولها منحدرات واسعة معظمها وعر المسالك أمام من يتهددها من الخارج، تتقاطعها مهاو : أنهر \"السون\" و\"الرون\" و\"الغارون\"، وحواجز عالية : جبال \"الجورا\" و\"الألب\"، و\"البيرينه\"، ويغتسل طرفها بعيدا في بحر المانش أو في المحيط الأطلسي أو في البحر المتوسط\".
