يعتبر هذا المعجم هو معجم لغوي موسوعي عربي-إيطالي من تأليف (روحي البعلبكي) ويتميز بغنى مادته ودقة الشرح وحسن التوثيق. وقد ألزم المؤلف نفسه في هذا المعجم بالدقة العملية، إذ حقق كل شاردة وواردة على أوثق المصادر وأجدرها بالاعتماد، وركز تركيزا خاصا على الموضوعات والمفاهيم الإسلامية، وعنى بدقة المصطلح العربي لما لذلك من أهمية بالغة في إرساء العلوم بالغربية في منطلقاتها الأساسية. كما وضع المؤلف المقابل الإيطالي لمختلف المعاني والمصطلحات العربية الواردة في ثنايا المواد، كما حرص على تحويل القارئ في داخل المادة أو في نهايتها إلى مواد تحسن مراجعتها استكمالا للمعرفة، كما جمع كثير من المداخل التي ينتظمها باب واحد في موضع واحد يصح أن يكون مشردا مستقلا برأسه.
