تعد الكتابة عن تاريخ يهود لبنان من الدراسات الشائكة التي يكتنفها الكثير من الغموض والالتباس والتعقيد، وتحتاج إلى مثابرة وصبر، إذ إن تاريخ يهود لبنان ظل ولمدة طويلة حبيس الآراء التقليدية المتوارثة من النصوص التوراتية، حيث دعا بعض المؤرخين والمفكرين إلى ترك الاعتماد على الروايات التوراتية، منهم توماس ل. تومسون تومسون في كتابه تاريخ بني إسرائيل. يتضمن الكتاب تحليلا موسعا يركز على تاريخ يهود لبنان، إذ يبدأ بتناول لبنان عبر العصور المختلفة، منتقلا لجذور الطائفة اليهودية في البلاد، وواقع لبنان الاقتصادي والثقافي والاجتماعي والتعليمي، ليوضح بعدها دور المنظمات الصهيونية في الهجرة إلى البلاد والعلاقة بين أحداث حزيران 1967 والطائفة اليهودية اللبنانية، من ثم يقدم تصورا عن أحوال يهود لبنان في الوقت الحاضر، مختتما بحوثه بتسليطه الضوء على العبادات والمعاملات للطائفة اليهودية اللبنانية.
