يعد علم النحو من العلوم المهمة التي لا يستطيع الإنسان أن يتقن لغته العربية دون أن يعرفه ليميز المرفوع من المنصوب، وليقوم لسانه، وليستطيع قراءة كتاب الله بأسلوب صحيح . ولقد كانت ألفية ابن مالك في النحو والصرف على مدى العصور أفضل وأعظم أرجوزة شعرية لهذا العلم فعلى مدى اكثر من (800) عام تناولها النحاة بالشرح والدراسة، لأنها تناولت جميع أبواب النحو بالعرض والشرح المبسط، وقد قال العلماء عنها أن من حفظها استطاع إتقان اللغة والغوص في معانيها واستقام لسانه. يعرض في هذا الكتاب ألفية ابن مالك التي لقت شهرة واسعة، قديما وحديثا، في بلاد الشام ومصر والأندلس. فما كاد ناظمها ينتهي من نظمها ويأخذ في تدريسها حتى أقبل عليها الناس عالمهم ومتعلمهم، وما ذاك غلا لسهولة نظمها ووضوح عباراتها من جهة أخرى، ولأنها مختصر الشافية الكافية من جهة ثالثة.
