هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا يحتوي على مجموعة مختارة من مقالات جريرسون عن السينما التي كتبها في الفترة ما بين 1930-1945. ولا بد من أن نؤكد أن هذه المقالات ليست سوى مجموعة مختارة. فلم يتضمن هذا الكتاب مثلا سوى عدد قليل من المقالات نقد الأفلام التي ساهم بها جريرسون في عدد من الصحف والمجلات في أوائل العقد الثالث من القرن الحال. كما ويتضمن الكتاب بعض المقالات التي كتبها جريرسون عن قواعد السينما التسجيلية وعن العلاقات المترابطة بين التعليم والدعاية والديمقراطية.
