يتحدث الكتاب في مراحل إنشاء أو نشأة تركيا الحديثة فيقدم نبذة مختصرة عن تاريخ الدولة العثمانية ويعرج على حالها قبل الحرب العالمية والظروف التي مهدت لسطوع نجم مصطفى كمال ليصبح قائدا عسكريا منتصرا ثم يصبح أتاتورك (أبو الأتراك) ليس بسبب قوة في نفسه أو ملكة عنده غير الرغبة في الزعامة والتملك وإنما لأن الظروف كانت مواتية ولأنه نجح في استغلال كل شيئ. ويحكي الكتاب عن إلغاء الخلافة وإتجاه مصطفى كمال إلى التطرف في دعوته العلمانية التغريبية وفي نفس الوقت التدرج في الدعوة لها كي لا يعادى الشعب.
