يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى تزويد القارئ بمجموعة من التقنيات والأدوات التي تمكن من التعامل مع مسائل واقعية، تعد طرق مونتي كارلو من الطرق المهمة التي تستخدم لحل مسائل واقعية وذلك عن طريق بناء نماذج ومحاكاة هذه النماذج، ومن ثم استنباط حلول للمسائل من خلال نتائج المحاكاة، طرق مونتي كارلو هي طرق عامة لحل المسائل وتعد وسيلة فعالة للتعامل مع المسائل التي يكتنفها الغموض، لذلك تمت مناقشة طرق مونتي كارلو في هذه الكتاب، بما أن طرق مونتي كارلو ترتبط بمبدأ العشوائية فقد أفرد فصل كامل للحديث عن الأعداد العشوائية وبعض خصائصها، يناقش هذا الكتاب من جهة ثانية، موضوع التحليل الاحصائي للبيانات واستنباط نتائج منها، حيث جرى مناقشة العديد من تقنيات اختبار الفرضيات الإحصائية وكيفية تحليل البيانات المتوفرة للحصول على استنتاجات حول هذه الفرضيات.
