تعتبر فاكهة النقل (Nut fruits) من أهم مجاميع الفاكهة التي تنتشر زراعتها في مناطق مختلفة من العالم والتي تضم أنواع عديدة من الفواكه وهي ( الفستق ، الجوز ، اللوز ، البندق ، البيكان ، الكستناء والكاجو)، وتتميز أفراد هذه المجموعة بطعمها الدهني وذات نكهة مميزة خاصة بالنوع والصنف، إضافة الى ارتفاع نسبة البروتينات فيها، والذي يجمع بينهم هو أن الجزء ذا القيمة الغذائية الذي تستهلك من أجله الثمار هو البذرة، وان البذرة في جميع انواع فاكهة النُقل والمكسرات تكون محاطة بغلاف صلب يعرف بالصدفة، وكلمة النقل (Nut) تعرف بأنها عبارة عن ثمرة جافة ذات بذرة واحدة جدارها صلب لا ينشق عند النضج، وتنشأ عن مبيض علوي ذو غرفة واحدة نتيجة للالتحام كربلتين أو أكثر.
