يتناول الكتاب مدينة أبيي بالسودان، بداية من موقعها وتاريخها، ويروي قصصا من نضالها وكفاحها لاثبات هويتها، وقد تناول الكتاب عد أبواب وفصول منها : الباب الأول : تناول الموقع الجغرافي لمنطقة أبيي وبيان تركيبة عشائر دينكا نقوك التسع، والباب الثاني : اتاح مساحة لإفادات من رموز وشخصيات لها وزنها، كما تناول الحديث عن طقوس الزواج عند قبيلة الدينكا عموما وأهل أبيي خصوصا، والباب الثالث : بداية الحروب الأهلية في السودان بعد الاستقلال، والباب الرابع : تتبع بالرصد والتحليل أثر اتفاقية السلام 2005 وتأثيرها على قضية أبيي.
