ضمن احتفالات مؤسسة سلطان بن علي العويس الثقافية باليوم الوطني الخامس والأربعين نظمت المؤسسة بالتعاون مع مركز دبي لفن الخط العربي مساء يوم الثلاثاء 28 نوفمبر 2016 معرض الخط العربي بعنوان (الوطن والشهيد)، شارك في المعرض كل من (تاج السر حسن، محمد علان ، محمد مندي، حسام خورشيد، ضياء علام، فاطمة سعيد البقالي، عدي الأعرجي، نبيل الغانم، محمد اديب ، مؤمن الشرقاوي، أحمد الهواري ، ياسر العشري، جمال السويدي، شاهر طريف، هيا الكتبي، عائشة الرمسي ، محمد عيسى خلفان، وفاء عمر الكندي، حسام عبد الوهاب، جلال محارب، أحمد رأفت، نهى المنصوري، مؤمن شوق)، وتنوعت المشاركات بين الخطوط التقليدية والمعاصرة وتنقلت أنواعها بين مدارس الخط العربي من النسخ إلى الثلث وصولا إلى الكوفي والرقعة وغيرها من الخطوط بتذهيبات، وتلوينات أضفت على لوحات المعرض مزيدا من البريق والبهجة، وتنوعت أيضا أحجام اللوحات وقياساتها وإطاراتها بين البسيط والمزخرف.
