يقوم الدكتور حليم صبرون ومساعدوه بتجارب سرية لا يعرف عنها العالم الخارجي شيئا، وعندما يبدأ بعض المرضى في الاختفاء من مستشفى الدكتور حليم في ظروف غامضة، يحاول الصحفي كامل بهنسي حل اللغز، فينجح في دخول الفيلا، ويصبح مساعدا للدكتور، وإذا به يكتشف أن أبحاث الدكتور وضعتهم جميعا أمام خيارات صعبة، لن تؤثر على حياتهم فحسب، بل على مصير البشرية، «قاهر الزمن» رواية لاهثة وممتعة عن أخلاقيات العلم وجنونه، وعن أسرار النفس البشرية، وتعقيدات العلاقات الإنسانية، التي لا تتغير مهما تقدم العلم. صدرت هذه الرواية المثيرة، التي تعد من أفضل روايات الخيال العلمي العربية، لأول مرة عام 1966.
