مخطوط \"أجوبة الحوات\" [هو] مجموعة من الأجوبة التي أجاب بها رحمه الله على أسئلة طرحت عليه قام بجمعها تلميذه وابن عمه أحمد بن شقور العلمي بأمر من السلطان سليمان. وهي أسئلة عامة ومتنوعة وفيها فائدة كبيرة خصوصا أنها تطرقت لمواضيع لم يسبق أن اهتم بها أحد قبل الشيخ الحوات. فرأيت أن العمل عليها سيرجع بفائدة كبيرة على الباحثين وطلاب العلم... وقد حرصت في هذا العمل على إضافة مخطوط التعريف بالشيخ الحوات لابن الخياط لكونه جاء بمعلومات جديدة عن نسب الشيخ الحوات الذي لم يتطرق إليه أحد الباحثين بل في إيراده تصحيحات لمجموعة من الأخطاء التي وقع فيها محققو كتب الشيخ.
