الرؤى والأحلام ظاهرة إنسانية تتلازم مع الإنسان من الميلاد حتى الممات وقبل أن تندلع شرارة الحركة الصليبية ضد الشرق كثرت هذه الرؤى والأحلام في الغرب الأوروبي لأن أصحابها ادعوا أنهم شاهدوا فيها السيد المسيح أو مريم العذراء أو أحد القديسين يأمرونهم بأمور معينة فاكتسبت هذه الرؤى والأحلام الأوروبي إلى الشرق بأسلحتهم لم ينسوا أن يحملوا معهم أحلامهم صفة القداسة. فكانت سلاحا أخطر من أسلحتهم القتالية حيث كانوا يستخدمونها للعب بعواطف العامة لدفعهم إلى الإنخراط في الحركة الصليبية وظلت هذه الرؤى والأحلام ملازم للصليبيين طوال وجودهم في الشرق.
