يتطرق هذا الكتاب إلى التاريخ العسكري لمملكة سبأ في القرن الثالث الميلادي في عهد الملك إلى شرح يحضب الثاني حوالي (230-2070م)، وهي فترة شهدت فيها اليمن تطورات عسكرية وسياسية كثيرة، أدت إلى اتحادها مع حمير في عهد أسرة ياسر يهنعم الحميرية، وخاضت مملكة سبأ حروبا كثيرة مع الأحباش الذين كانوا قد احتلوا الجزء الغربي من بلاد العرب الجنوبية، فضلا عن الحروب التي شنوها ضد أعراب شبه الجزيرة العربية ومن يقف وراءهم، وقد جاء الكتاب في أربعة فصول متضمنة مباحث تناولت ما يتعلق بالتطورات العسكرية، والحروب التي شنوها، ونتائجها، والتطرق إلى أبرز ما تم إنجازه في هذا الصعيد.
