يقع الكتاب في سبعة فصول تناولت الجانب السياسي للحركة الأباضية تناول الفصل الأول بالدراسة والتحليل المصادر الأصلية التي اعتمدها المؤلف في دراسته وخاصة فيما يتعلق منها بتاريخ عمان في الفترة موضوع البحث، أما الفصل الثاني فقد تناول المؤلف بدايات النشاط السياسي للدعوة الأباضية في المشرق العربي ومحاولتهم تأسيس إمامة أباضية في سنة 29) هـ) 746م وامتداد هذه الحركة إلى حضر موت واليمين والحجاز ...، وتناول الفصل الرابع بداية الدعوة الأباضية بعمان والظروف التي مهدت لقيام الإمامة الأباضية الأولى سنة 132هـ / 749-751 م، وفي الفصل الخامس تناول المؤلف قيام الإمامة الثانية 177هـ / 793 م والصراع مع الدولة العباسية ... وموضوعات أخرى.
