تعد مادة تاريخ الأديان \"من المواد الطريفة، أنها تفتح للطالب نافذة على الأديان الموجودة اليوم، والقائمة في العالم، ويستطيع الإنسان عن طريقها أن يتعرف على مبادئ هذه الأديان المنتشرة في الأرض ليقارن بينها، ويطلع على عقائدها ونظامها وكهنوتها ومقدساتها وتقاليدها وعاداتها ليكون على محجة بيضاء في اختيار الدين الحق الذي يقتنع به، ويدين الله تعالى عليه، ويلتزم به في حياته وسلوكه،كما أن هذه المادة تعطي صورة واقعية على بعض جوانب الشعوب، وما يدور في خلدها من قيم وأفكار، تمتد في جذورها إلى التاريخ السحيق، وتضفي بطولاتها وآثارها على عادات المجتمع وتقاليده، وتفسر لنا الطقوس الدينية الغريبة التي تميز بها شعب على آخر.
