اشتمل الكتاب على مجموعة من الدراسات والقراءات والتأملات، أولها \"الإيقاع في ديوان (وصايا قيد الأرض) لسعيد الصقلاوي\"، حيث أكد الناقد أن مضامين هذا الديوان توزعت بين البوح ببعض الأشجان الخاصة، وتناول الجانب الحضاري لسلطنة عمان، وعرض بعض القضايا الراهنة، التي عالجها الشاعر برؤى خاصة، كما تضمن موضوعات أخرى. وأشار بوحجام إلى ما تميزت به قصائد الصقلاوي من توفرها العناصر المطلوبة في كتابة الشعر، من التصوير والرمزية، والموسيقى المتنوعة (الجرس والوزن والإيقاع) وغيرها، مما جعل الديوان (تحفة أدبية، تضاف إلى بقية الدواوين التي نشرها الشاعر). وفي دراسته حول (الحس الوجداني في شعر الشيخ سالم الحارثي)، أكد بوحجام أن قصائد الحارثي تتسم بامتلاكها الحس الوجداني، على الرغم من أن ديوانه يتناول التاريخ والفقه وموضوعات أخرى قد لا توفر الحس الوجداني في الكتابة.
