هذا الكتاب يتناول الحديث عن الجنة التي أعدها الله تبارك وتعالى لعباده المتقين وما ينتظرهم من نعيم دائم لا ينفد ولا ينتهي، و قد عرضه أبوعبيد لنا بأسلوب شيق، وعرض ممتع لا يمل القارئ قراءته ولا يثنيه شيء عن إكماله. وقد صدق أبوعبيد حين وصفه في مقدمته بقوله : (هذا الكتاب الشريف الفائق المنيف الرائق الظريف)، فالكتاب قد تضمن كل هذه الأوصاف الرائعة وأكثر ولن يخفى ذلك على القارئ. وعمد أبوعبيد لتأليف هذا الكتاب كي يتقرب به العبد لربه ويشتاق من خلاله لجنته، فيطمح للجنة وما يقربه إليها من رضا الله تعالى عليه، يقول أبوعبيد في ذلك : «ترغيبا للعباد إلى الله، وشوقا إليه وتحبيبا له، وابتغاء لمرضاته، وتقرضا لحصول نفحات رحمته في الدار الآخرة».
