يقول المحقق، فإنه بالرغم من معرفة أبو مسلم وترديد بعض شعاره الكامنة في الصدور، وملحوظاته المروية نثرا وشعرا على أنشاق الحياة الاجتماعية في زنجبار، لكن وفي حقيقة الأمر، لم يتم الاطلاع على نتاجه الشعري كاملا في مؤلف واحد تعيد مكانته إليه، من هذا المنطلق جاء هذا العمل والاشتغال على ديوانه الشعري هذا وتقديمه لأول مرة كاملا في كتاب واحد هو ممتع ومفيد إلى درجة كبيرة بسبب تلك الدراسة حوب بعض الجوانب في شارعية ونظم هذا الشاعر، بالإضافة إلى تلك الحواشي التي أغنت هذا الكتاب وكشفت عن الكثير من الإبداع في صفة أبي مسلم البهلاتي الشعرية.
