Overview
ينقسم هذا التحقيق إلى مقدمة، ومتن الكتاب، والتعليقات، ثم الفهارس الفنية. أما المقدمة فهي عمل علمي رفيع المستوى، في شمولها و دقتها فقد عرض فيها المؤلف الكتاب، في نسبه، ومولده، ووفاته، وما استطاع تجميعه من أخبار حياته، وما أمكنه الوصول إليه وهو شي كثير من مؤلفاته، وشيوخه، وتلاميذه. وقد تناول ذلك (في الأصل الذي اطلعت عليه) أكثر من عشرين صفحة . ثم تنتقل المقدمة إلى الحديث عن الكتاب، اسمه، ومنزلته في ميدانه، ومنهج مؤلفه فيه. ثم تتناول وصف المخطوطتين اللتين اعتمد عليهما التحقيق، وصفا علميا دقيقا. وتنتهي المقدمة ببيان منهج التحقيق، وهو منهج يجمع بين عموميات قواعد التحقيق، وخصوصیات تحقيق النصوص اللغوية، وعلى الأخص المعاجم.
