تحاول هذه الدراسة الوصول إليه، هو اجتلاء الملامح السردية التي تتميز بها سيرة الملك سيف بن ذي يزن من خلال تحليل مكونات خطابها، كون الخطاب هو العامل المتغير الذي تتمايز من خلاله الأعمال السردية عموما، كان لا بد للباحث من أن ينطلق من سرديات الخطاب، ومن منهج السرديين البنيويين لتحقيق هذا الهدف الرئيس. كما اقتضت الضرورة من الباحث الاستعانة الجزئية ببعض المفاهيم النظرية والأدوات الإجرائية الأخرى من خارج سرديات الخطاب - كالتهجين عند باختين والتفاعل النصي عند كرستيفا-عند مقاربته لموضوع انفتاح نص السيرة وما تعرض له هذا النص من تراكم ملحمي خلال عصور التداول الشفهي للسيرة.
