يقول الحبيب السائح عن هذه الرواية : تيبحيرين .. كلمة أمازيغية ذات إيقاع شعري في السمع والتي تعني الجنان أو البستان في لغة أهل البلد، الذين هم اليوم أهلي، كانت فتنتي الأولى ووحشتي لاحقا، إنها جنة صغيرة بخصوبة أرضها ودفق مائها واخضرار محيطها، الذي يغدو في أيام الثلج وشاحا قدسيا، تحضن الدير مثل هدية أنزلها الإله من السماء ووضعها بين \"تمزكيدة\"، جبال النار هنا، وبين الشريعة، جبال الأرز الفاتن هنالك. فكذلك نما لها، مثل فسيلة زيتون، عشق في قلبي أنا الذي جئت من منطقة القالة شرقا، الساحرة ببحيرتها معبرا للطيور المهاجرة، وبمينائها ملتقى للغرباء، حيث ولدت لأسرة شاء لها قدرها أن تكون من هذه العائلات التي تسمى \"الأقدام السوداء\" فكنت، إذا، فرنسيا بالولادة، لتصبح حياتي كلها من أجل أن أنتهي جزائريا بالهوية.
