لما كان علم أصول الفقه هو المنهج الشرعي للتعرف على حكم الله فيما يجد ويحدث من قضايا ونوازل. وفق أسس صاغها علماء الإسلام، واستمدها من كتاب الله وسنة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقد أفرد الشيخ أحمد بن محمد الديوه جي في هذا الباب للإمام الجويني وضعه تحت عنوان \"شرح الورقات في علم الأصول\" قدم فيه فوائد شرحا مهما ومفيدا دراسة أصول الفقه. وضرورة تعلمه ودراسته، وعلاقته بعلم الكلام وأنواع المسائل وأجناسها وغيرها من مباحث. وتأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كونه يعرف الطالب المنتسب إلى هذا العلم الشرعي (علم الأصول) كيف يفهم من كتاب الله وسنة نبيه–عليه الصلاة والسلام-ما يخاطب به من التكاليف-من الأوامر والنواهي-وهو لا يعرف العام والخاص، والمطلق والمقيد، والناسخ والمنسوخ، والمنطوق والمفهوم وغير ذلك من مباحث أهل العالم.
