ذات يوم صار لدى السكندريين قدرة على الطيران، فقط داخل مدينتهم، فلا يقدر أيهم على الطيران خارجها، ولا يقدر غيرهم على الطيران فيها، أو خارجها. لماذا ؟ وكيف ؟ ومن هم عبدة النورس ؟ وهل هناك من يريد شرا بهذا الوطن ؟ وهل يرى المهندس علي الشيطان فعلا ؟ وهل كل ما تحتاجه سندس كريم تفتيح بشرة، وعريسا وسيما ؟ ما سبب الطيران أصلا ؟ وفي مصلحة من ؟ كل هذه الأسئلة، وأكثر، لا تهتم هذه الرواية بالإجابة عنها، وإنما يحاول مؤلفها سرد ما يذكره مما وقع في المدينة القديمة (التي يحبها البعض بجنون، ويكرهها آخرون كالطاعون) في الأعوام المربكة التي تلت خريف 2005، عندما طار الناس لأول مرة.
