طبع هذا الكتاب لأول مرة سنة 1905 م وقد أفرد فيه المؤلف فصول وفقرات خص بها طائفته وهو آخر كتبه للمطبوعة. اعتمد خلاله أسلوب السرد الزمني الذي يتعقب العصور الواحد تلو الآخر ليجمع منها ما وصل إليه من وثائق ثابتة على يد الأصول هي مباشرة محققة بالإطلاع الشخصى أو باالاستناد إلى العلماء الثقة ابتداء من نصوص الأولين عن مار مارون وتلاميذه وانتهاء بمنشآت عصره التي شهدها وكان فيها أكبر المساهمين.
