يتناول الكتاب رواية عن معاناة الشباب السوريين خارج بلادهم إبان أزمتهم التي بدأت عام 2011 م. أصلان شاب دمشقي من أصول شركسية، وبمساعدة الحاج عثمان التركي صديق جده يحصل على منحة للدراسات العليا بجامعة أسطنبول، فيسافر إليها في ظروف الأخطار التي كانت تحيط بالمدينة، قذائف عشوائية تتنزل عليها من مسلحي المعارضة، وما يعانيه السكان من فزع وخسائر وهجرة داخلية وتشرد، يسافر أصلان في تلك الأثناء ويترك حبيبته الشركسية نارينا التي وعدها بالرجوع سريعا أو العمل على أن تسافر هي إليه لمتابعة دراستها الجامعية كذلك، وبسعاية صديق جده.
