هذا الكتاب عرض المسائله وتقديم للمسائل العسكرية وما فيها من مسائل نحوية، وآيات قرآنية وأبيات شعرية وصناعة نحوية، وما سلكه أبو علي فيها من أساليب وأبنية، وذلك فيما كتبته في دراسة [المسائل العسكرية] ؛ ولقد وصف الكتاب المخطوطة، ووثقت بذكر ما نقله بعض المتأخرين من نصوص منسوبة إليها، وفي عرض المخطوطة ضبطت نصوص الكتاب، وأشار إلى ما بها من الشواهد التي أوردها، وفسر كثيرا من المفردات التي تحتاج إلى تفسير، وناقش بعضا مما يحتاج إلى مناقشة، ونسب الآيات إلى سورها، والأبيات إلى قائليها ومراجعها، وترجم للأعلام وختم الكتاب بالفهارس اللازمة الموجزة والمفصلة.
