Overview
تبدأ الحكاية في لندن بعد إندلاع الحرب العالمية الثانية، حيث تستخدم الحرب كأداة لزرع أميرتي بريطانيا الصغيرتين مارغريت وإليزابيث في الوسط الإيرلندي. وبالفعل ترسل الأميرتين إلى إيرلندا المحايدة تحت اسمين مستعارين حفاظا على سلامتهما، ليبقيا إلى حين أن تهدأ الأوضاع في المنزل المتهالك لدوق ایدنمور وليام هيربرت برفقة سيليا ناشي وسترافورد. حيث تقابل الفتاتان مدبرة المنزل صعبة المراس السيدة أوهائلون، التي يوليها الدوق اهتماما خاصا من بين بقية الخدم، وبيلي دونتون وبايك والعديد من الشخصيات الأخرى، ليتم اكتشاف هويتهما بعد حين من قبل كلانسي الذي ينقل الخبر إلى الجيش الجمهوري الإيرلندي، ليتم إرسال شخصين هما جونز وسميث بغية اختطاف الفتاتين وإحراق المنزل.
