وعلى كل حال، فإن هذه الحكايات، وبعضها أساطير وخرافات لا تخلو في العادة، من درس أو عبرة، أو نصيحة أو فائدة، أو معلومة أو حكمة مستمدة من تجربة إنسانية. إضافة إلى ما فيها من رموز أو إشارات غامضة إلى ظواهر أو أحداث عظيمة حدثت يوما ما ولم يبق منها في الحكايات إلا ما يشبه الحلم أو الخرافة أو اللغز العصي على التفسير. وقد أثرت أن يكون اختياري لهذه الحكايات، من تلك التي ترجمتها عن الإنكليزية على أمتداد مسيرتي الأدبية والصحفية. قائما على أساس التنوع في الأصل القومي والبيئة والموضوع قدر المستطاع، واضعا نصب عينى أن تكون ذات فائدة للباحث الجاد في هذا المجال. إضافة للمتعة التي يتطلع إليها القارئ لاعتيادي.
