هذا الكتاب به الكاتب لا يصور الحياة المصرية فى عصر\"أخناتون\" فحسب لكنه يصور الحياة فى العالم الذى عرفه المصريون فى ذلك الوقت فبطل الكتاب يتحدث إليك حديثا مباشرا لأنه يقص عليك حياته وقد اضطر إلى أن يكون أخا سفر جواب آفاق فهو يتنقل فى مصر ثم إلى جزيرة أقرطيش أو \" كريت \" وهو يعاشر حكام هذه البلاد كلها كما يتصل بأهلها اتصالا دقيقا ويقص علينا من سير أولئك وهؤلاء وأنبائهم أطرافا أيسر ما توصف به أنها تخلب وتروع وهو من أبرز المؤلفات التاريخية التي تصور الحياة المصرية في عصر إخناتون ويصور لنا الحياة في العالم الذي عرفه المصريون في ذلك الوقت.
