يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن الرسالة التي تصل إلى غسان العثماني : هي رسالة غامضة بأسم مستعار تصل إلى غسان العثماني وهو في طريقه إلى سورينتو لقضاء إجازته مع زوجته شهد تثير لديه الكثير من المخاوف والتساؤلات. تتوالى الرسائل بينهما ويغدو العثماني أسير شخص غامض ينبش ذاكرته القديمة منذ حادثة \"جامع العيدروس\" في قريته في اليمن وخروجه من القرية إلى عدن وسنوات الدراسة والعمل الحزبي وتاريخ علاقته بالإيمان والوحي وسقوط المسلمات الدينية لديه. عبر علاقة شائكة يسرد الراوي لمخاطبة المجهول الأوضاع التي آلت إليها اليمن ومدنها الجريحة باحثا عن أسباب هذا الخراب وجذوره في الفلسفة والتاريخ. يقود الشغف غسان العثماني إلى موعد مع مراسلة المجهول مدفوعا بالفضول ومنساقا خلف سحره الغامض دون أن يدرك حجم المفاجأة التي تنتظره.
