هذا الكتاب يرصد ما خلفه لنا هذا المعماري المميز من تراث معماري في القاهرة والإسكندرية خلال تلك الفترة ومن حسن الحظ أن تلك الأعمال مازالت قائمة ولا يعرف الكثيرون عنها شيئا رغم أنها ذو طابع خاص لا يمكن إغفاله ؛ فالفنان لاشاك-كما ينطق الاسم بالإيطالية، معماريا فذا ذا خبرة عريضة-حيث استمر نشاطه حوالى سبعين عاما، فهو إيطالي قلبا نمساوي مجري قالبا، وهو من أعظم المعماريين الأجانب الذين عملوا في مصر منذ 1882-1930 م.
