عد هذا الكتاب إلى زمن قريب في عداد الكتب المفقودة، إلى أن من الله علينا فعثر الأستاذ محمد إبراهيم الكتاني-رحمه الله-على قسم منه، في خزائن مخطوطات المغرب ؛ إذ كانت في إحدى خزائن المخطوطات الخاصة في مدينة وزان بالمغرب، ثم نقلت إلى المكتبة العامة بالرباط. وكتاب (التذكرة) كتاب كبير، في نحو أربعة مجلدات، جمع فيه أبو حيان نصوصا ومسائل شتى من علوم العربية، ويغلب عليه النحو. والذي بين أيدينا منه لا شك أنه المجلد الأخير، ويقع في تسع وعشرين كراسة، كل كراسة عشر ورقات، في كل ورقة خمسة وعشرون سطرا، وفي كل سطر عشر كلمات.
