هذا الكتاب يعالج جانبا هاما من جوانب التوحيد، وركنا عظيما من أركان الإيمان، إنه ركن الإيمان بالقدر، خيره وشره، وحلوه ومره. إنه ركن ضلت فيه أفهام، وزلت فيه أقدام، ولم يؤمن به حق الإيمان إلا من اتبع فيه طريق السلف الصالح الذين أثبتوا حكمة الله تعالى وعدله. فهذا الركن يدور بين الحكمة والعدل، وكم ضل في فهم هذا الركن طوائف حتى نسبوا الظلم إلى ربهم تبارك وتعالى، حتى لقد برأوا إبليس ونزهوه وسبوا الفاطر سبحانه وتعالى، وأنقصوه وظنوا أن كل ما يقع في هذا الكون من شرور وآثام طالما أنها واقعة بإرادة الله ومشيئته فهو يحبها ويرضى عنها وعن أصحابها ولم يعطوا هذا المقام حظا من هذا النظر. تعالى ربنا عن هذا علوا كبيرا.
