إن من أحسن العبادات وأجملها، وأفضلها وأكملها، الثناء الجميل على الرب الجليل سبحانه وتعالى، وقد صحت الأحاديث بأنه لا أحد أحب إليه المدح من الله تعالى، وإن حصر الثناء على الله تعالى بأنواعه وإفراده ليس في طاقة أحد. هذا وقد جمع الإمام الشيخ يوسف بن إسماعيل النبهاني (المتوفى سنة ١٣٥٠هـ) في كتابه هذا الموسوم بـ\"جامع الثناء على الله\" أحسن ما قدر عليه من ثناء الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم على الله تعالی وثناء أكابر العارفين من أمته صلى الله عليه وسلم إذ هم بعده عليه الصلاة والسلام أعرف من غيرهم من علماء أمته فضلا عن غيرهم، على أن كل ما أثنوا به عليه قد أفاضه سبحانه وتعالى عليهم بطريق الإلهام، أو تلقوه عن حبيبه الأعظم عليه الصلاة والسلام.
