لقد اشتهرت المدارس الفقهية بعدة اتجاهات من حيث التأصيل والتطبيق وأخذت كل مدرسة طابعا خاصا بها، تمتاز به عن غيرها، فأوغلت في خوض غمار هذا الفن تأليفا ونظما وشرحا. ومنها : علم أصول الفقه، على وجه الخصوص، لأنه مبعث الفقه. لذا كثرت التأليف في هذا الفن ما بين الإيجاز والمبالغة فيه، من صور ذلك ورقات لإمام الحرمين أبي المعالي الجويني في نظم قواعد أصول الفقه بإيجاز، لكنها عامة نافعة شاملة، تستوجب التعليق والتعقيب والشرح لعموم المنفعة. فقام أحد العلماء الأجلاء بشرح هذه الورقات في كتاب سماه \"قرة العين لشرح ورقات إمام الحرمين\"، وهو العلامة أبو عبد الله الحطاب الرعيني المالكي المعول عليه في المذهب، وصاحب المصنفات الكثيرة، قام بشرح مفيد جلي المعنى وسهل المنال وكثير الفائدة، بين من خلاله المسائل الكثيرة وعمل على توضيحها، فكانت من الكتب التي يمكن العودة إليها والتعويل عليها.
