إن الناظر في هذا الديوان يجد أنه أمام بحر زاخر تتلاطم أمواجه، وتقذف بالجواهر واللآليء، فما بين مقامة شريفة، وحكمة لطيفة، ومدح عفيف وفخر منيف ورثاء شريف، وهجاء ظريف، ومثل طريف، ووصف يعاينه الكفيف. كل ذلك بلفظ قد سهل في جزالة ورق في فخامة، قد نادى بندواته، وصاح بفصاحته؟، وبان بيانه، وبلغ القلوب ببلاغته، يصور دقيق المعاني، ولطيف الفكر، ويرسم ببديعه أجمل الصور فدونك بستان الورد في شعر انب الوردي فنزه فيه الطرف، وننشق منه الشذا والعرف، لتعرف حقيقة الوصف، وأنه دون واحد من ألف. إن المطلع على ديوان هذا الأديب البارع يجد نفسه أمام رجل أديب ناقد لبيب بارع، فطن فقيه دين ذي اعتقاد حسن آخذ بحظه من جميع العلوم. فديوانه لا يخلو من النظرات البلاغية والنقدية الدالة على حسن أدب نقدي، وذوق مرهف.
